A playwright and former drama teacher, Ms. Crane founded the Children’s Scholarship Fund For Girls (CSFG) nearly three decades ago. The CSFG was founded to support girls from El Salvador who had fled to the United States to escape the civil war in that country. The CSFG now welcomes girls in need from many countries in Central and South America and supports their education in welcoming and nurturing school environments. In 2010, Ms. Crane expanded the role of the CSFG to support teachers and students in Gros Morne, Haiti.

‌Ms. Crane has volunteered on medical missions to Iraq, Bosnia, and Haiti with Medicine For Peace.
